With fruit sourced from the sandier soils of Roero, Trediberri’s Barbera d’Alba sees fermentation and aging solely in concrete and steel, no oak influence to be found here. An expression that puts emphasis on streamlined intensity, this bottle takes a varietal normally hallmarked by something more plump and succulent and runs with it, highlighting a fuller body and fruit-froward character without sacrificing drive and almost exuberant lift. Ripe red plum and currant, blueberry, spice, and juicy acidity segue to a finish full of herbal accents of dried mint, basil, and balsamic.
