As is the case with the rolling woodlands in which the estate sits, the beauty of its predominant crop, grapes, has always lied not in its simplicity per se, but more so in its purity; an unadorned, stripped back and laser focused elegance in each of its wines that is all too often tampered with in an effort to elevate the end product into something that, in many cases, it does not need to be. For what they consider to be their ‘entry-level’ white wine, the Il Terraio Bianco is a revelation. Arguably one of the best value bottles of white wine to hit our shelves each and every year, albeit for a fleeting moment, the Il Terraio combines the aromatic and golden punchy-ness of Malvasia with the rustic and savory framework of Trebbiano. A wolf in sheep's clothing, this is a bottle that is all at once mineral, textural and aromatic, the wine is restrained yet wonderfully persistent - notes of refreshing and ripe sun-warmed lemon, white wildflowers, Anjou pear, and anise-laden spice. A gentle but just-so magical wine filled with Tuscan sunshine.
