Caprili Brunello di Montalcino 2020

Giacomo's 2020 showcases the dark side of Sangiovese, with more black fruit than red. A mass of crushed stone minerality off to reveal spice orange peels and inches. Silken and round, it has a polished core of ripe blackberries offset by a tinge of sour citrus toward the close. Finishes with loads of tension as edgy tannins resonate and hints of licorice fade slowly. Drink 2026-2038.

Giacomo Bartolommei is the 4th generation in his family to make wine for the Caprili Estate, one of the earliest in Montalcino. At only 34 years of age, he has honed his craft admirably, earning awards for the estate as well as respect from the region’s long-time stalwarts, while still remaining somewhat under-the-radar.
